Biggie Small is his name; abandoned at 4 weeks because his “backyard breeder” would not profit it from such a small puppy. Given up, fortunately, to a rescue who will do anything for this little guy to survive. At first it was thought he had hydrocephalus – but only because he was so small his head looked abnormally large. After a few weeks in care he had his first seizures. It was then that he was diagnosed with portosystemic shunt ~ currently his situation if being managed by diet (no animal protein). Biggie will require surgery. A gallery with photos of Biggie are available for purchase with all the proceeds from the sale of the photos donated towards the cost of surgery. As well, there is a site where you can watch a video about Biggie and donate to his cause.
Libby – The Security Adviser. Full name Liberty but also called, Libby Lou, Louie, Lady Bug and Libbs. The premises are safe when Libby is on the job. Prime look out spots – back of the couch and stairway – both have an excellent view of the front road so Libby can monitor the activity. She has also earned the nickname Pepper for her intense love of red peppers. First on clean up duty if food hits the floor or food drops out of Miles’ mouth! Her breeding is somewhat questionable between a Beagle and a Shih Tzu; does this make her a Sheagle or a Beatzu? A puppy mill survivor from Quebec she has that French attitude EH? Intuitive and spiritual is her special quality. When our first Berner, Max fell ill and couldn’t move, Libby quietly lay directly in front of him with her nose touching his – she stayed with him. Libby is never far from Miles, with either one eye on him or sitting on his tail. Life is good. Love you Libs!
